3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup dark corn syrup
1 (4-oz) square of semisweet chocolate, melted and cooled
1/3 cup sugar
2 tbsp butter, melted
1 tsp pure vanilla
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
1 unbaked 9-inch pastry shell
Ice cream or whipped cream for topping, optional
Chocolate syrup for drizzling, optional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, stir together the eggs, corn syrup, chocolate, sugar, butter, and vanilla until well blended. Stir in pecans and pour mixture into the pastry shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes.
