Bread:
1 stick unsalted butter, melted and cooled (May use 1/2 cup vegetable oil)
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1//2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp grated nutmeg
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
2 large eggs
1/2 cup plain yogurt or sour cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp grated orange zest (optional)
1 cup mashed bananas
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly butter a 9"x5" loaf pan; set aside.
Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Add the chocolate chips.
Whisk together the melted butter (or vegetable oil), eggs, yogurt (or sour cream), vanilla and orange zest (if using) in a medium bowl. Stir in the mashed banana. Fold the banana mixture into the dry mixture just until combined.
Spread the batter in the prepared pan. Baked until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 55 minutes. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 30 minutes. Turn out onto the wire rack to cool completely.
Glaze:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbsp milk
1/4 tsp vanilla
Pinch of salt
Whisk together the confectioners' sugar, cocoa powder, milk, vanilla extract and salt in a bowl.
Pour over the cooled banana bread and let set 15 to 20 minutes before cutting.
