CHOCOLATE SNACK CAKE

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup vegetable shortening

2 eggs, unbeaten

1 cup buttermilk

2 3/4 cups flour

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1/2 cup boiling water

1 tsp baking soda

In a mixing bowl, cream sugars with the shortening. Mix in eggs, buttermilk, flour and cocoa until well blended.

Dissolve baking soda in boiling water, then stir into the batter.

Pour batter into a greased and floured 9-in X 13-in baking pan (can be made in two prepared round cake pans). Bake at 350-degrees for 25-35 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. 

Frost with your favorite frosting or save calories by sprinkling with powdered sugar.
